Guilty Pleasures, part 2
It's been a while since we last asked this question and CaptainFellatioNelson's confession that he likes "to fart under the duvet, creep in and see how long I can last only on the fart air contained within" reminded us just how good it was last time.
What are the little things you do for fun when nobody else is around?

Ummm...
Foie gras, anyone?
I mean: I know it's evil and all that... but it's great.

Yup!
yum yum yum.
I know someone who, when one of his books was translated into Hungarian, asked for his royalties to be paid in foie gras and tokay (sweet hungarian wine).

I don't know
because I've never had it. I was vegetarian all through my formative foodie time and when I stopped that rabbit-food crap after about 11 years, everyone was bemoaning the plight of the geese, so I've never actually tasted foie gras.
Dolphin burgers are delicious though.

People tend to assume that I'm a veggie - being a long-haired ethicist makes people assume that I'm an effete hello-flowers-hello-sky twat. I once - on a long train journey - had someone apologise to me for eating a ham sandwich in my presence.
I eat meat. I like foie gras. I like my steak not only rare, but still mooing.

I need to try Foie gras
I'd eat anything as long as it tastes good and the texture isn't horrible.
I don't really mind what's happened to it if it's tasty enough

OMG I thought pate was badass,
so I had to Google this. Fair play to the French for this baby. I must have some immediately... Waiter! Foie Gras, s'il vous plait!

I love foie gras
but feel guilty indulging in it.
I even fed it to my kids once on holiday in France - they loved it too...but then I told them to eat these lovely chicken wings...which they did and indeed they were lovely...lovely frogs' legs.
My kids and I eat anything.
Steak - blue please...so a good vet could resuscitate it.

@Kitten
You seriously didn't know what foie gras was? jeeezuz.
While I think about it, don't anyone try pasteurising my parmesan.

mmm
foie gras = meat butter.
Mrs 2Shoes's dad is a travel n food writer; apparently when the gavage (overfeeding of geese) bell goes, the wee scamps come running.. i guess factory production is a shade different to the artisanal stuff, but i tell myself i'm eating the diseased liver of a happy goose and it's all good again.

Never had it.
Not because of any objection to it, just never had it.
I like beef tenderloin, preferably a warm red center, smeared in butter and peppercorns and grilled. And I like a really good Belgian ale to go with it. And fresh asparagus. And good mashed potatoes with sour cream and cheddar whipped in.
Which is why I look like I do...

it's not your fault...
the ducks' (and geeses') liver tastes so damnned good, so why feel guilty? best drinks to accompany it, by the way -- if it's pan-seared, a good belgian cherry beer is perfect. if it's a terrine, or en torchon, ice cider is fabulous, if you can get it.

Never had it...
But by Satan's armpits I'd like some now!
Can anybody recommend a good Foie gras supplier?
And would it be wrong to smear ketchup all over it?
