100g caustic soda in a pint of water will shift most blockages.You may need to repeat this if it's severe.
Also, wear gloves. It's called "caustic" soda for a reason.

EDIT: For OP - spend more time fixing & less time whinging, it may resolve the situation.
A shit load of hard yakka with a plunger, a hose down the drain and some bicarb and vinegar down the plughole may help.
Or just caustic soda.
