This is a question Impulse buys

I'm now the owner of a monster trampoline that's nearly too big for the garden. Tell us your retail disasters and triumphs.

I wanted to play crysis
but my poor computer was unable to run it

So I ordered all the bits to build a absolutely stonking machine & a copy of crysis

the bits for the computer arrived the next day (got to love Overclockers) and I built the machine.

Crysis was apparently on it's way.

Twiddling my thumbs wondering what to install 1st I spot a trial for world of warcraft disk on the front of the most recent games magazine. Not exactly a system tester I know and I don't know what I was thinking but I thought I'd play for a bit till crysis arrived then ditch it.

a week later i swaped an unopened crysis for the WoW Battlechest. A year later I took 3 days off work to play WoLK.

I have played nothing else since

On WoW
It's not called WoW Crack for nothing!

I would suggest WAR, but I think it is like methadone once you've had the strong stuff!

Give it up now, you know it makes sense..
Online games - just say no. There's a whole outside world out there, even if it does rain a bit.

Hoping it doesn't rain tonight, so I can hop on my mountain bike.. Biking in the rain is a bit boring.

WoW has taken over my gaming life
I have a family, friends

I go to the pub, see bands, walk the dog take my daughter swimming & horse riding. I like films & reading and I play the guitar & I'm learning the ukelele

But those of you with a family know the old social life goes out the window so some evenings I play WOW.

Sometimes I feel that if I told people my hobby was wanking furiously to granny porn I'd get less negative comments

WOW
is too addictive, a friend of mine once lost his job and had to move house due to doing no work and playing WOW constantly. He just stopped answering his phone and even stopped answering the door when normal friends tried to check on him.

I gave up when I realised that to actually advance in level you have to put about 5 hours a day in......

Wow's absurdly easy to level in.
That said, if your friends are ditching their lives and losing jobs over a video game, it's not the fault of the game for being "too addictive", it's a problem they have. (and a serious one, if it's affecting their lives that much).

I play WoW a lot (more than I ought), and still manage to have RL friends, a girlfriend, a job and occasionally do some exercise.

I bought Dead Space when I grabbed WotLK.
It was fantastic.

But I missed the people I play with on WoW. I think that's the reason a lot of people play, really.
