This is a question Irrational Hatred

People who say "less" when they mean "fewer" ought to be turned into soup, the soup fed to baboons and the baboons fired into an active volcano. What has you grinding your teeth with rage, and why?

Inappropriate Hats
You should wear a hat if it's bloody cold or bloody rainy (possibly bloody sunny). In which case it should be a woolly hat/waterproof hat/peaked cap.

- Why on earth would you wear a woolly hat in the summer (same goes for 'summer scarves' )?
- Why would you dress in scruffy jeans and tee shirt and top it off with a trilby?
- Why wear a baseball cap when it's cloudy?

These sorts of questions always occur to me when I see someone sporting unnecessary/inappropriate headwear. And it really, really irks me.

Indeed. I wear a trilby every day
Because it goes well with my three-piece suit, tie, and handsome brogues. NOT because some guitar-raping crack-head once wrote something bordering on vaguely insightful.

Being of a military persuasion
Hats are for outside and you take them off when you go inside (Ladies excepted). It grips my shit when I see chavs with their stupid hats welded to their heads no matter where they are, in or out.

I do accept that I may have been a bit brainwashed though.

A gentleman should NEVER wear a hat indoors unless he is
my dad, this Christmas gone, in his Santa hat, in church attending his grandchildren's Christingle service, singing In The Bleak Midwinter at the top of his drunken voice.

As we went I asked him about whether he felt it appropriate, given his leanings, and he looked me in the eye, and said
"Yes. I've had that conversation with myself."

Heh
We'll let him off, then

I'm a beenie in the summer person....
My head gets cold when I drive with the roof off and it's not properly sunny out.

Does this apply solely to hats...
.. or to inappropriate clothing in general?

If I wear shorts in the snow or an overcoat in the summer would you be equally offended?

Just wondering.

Other stuff doesn't tend
to bother me so much. I suppose that's part of what makes it irrational.

The one that really does though: trainers with a suit.

Lack of hair.
Some men wear hats all the time because they are going or have gone bald. I guess they figure hiding it under a hat is less embarressing?
Personally I just shave my head, only time I wear a hat is at work (because I have to, sometimes) or sometimes in the height of summer I might wear a canvas hat to keep the sun off. Oh and a crash helmet, as I have to by law (and it protects what is left of my brain in the event of an accident!)

Basball caps...
... are useful for keeping rain off your glasses.

That is all.
