This is a question Irrational Hatred

People who say "less" when they mean "fewer" ought to be turned into soup, the soup fed to baboons and the baboons fired into an active volcano. What has you grinding your teeth with rage, and why?

ABBA
I realise they are very popular, and produced harmless, catchy pop tunes, so I can see why this is irrational, but I always turn the radio off if an ABBA song comes on. Even on an otherwise fun, cheesy night out, I'll find myself heading away from the dancefloor within the first bar of "dancing queen" or whatever else the DJ picks from their back catalogue.

Being an 'evvy mekul fan back in the day, I hated ABBA with a passion
and the years have not mellowed me. I will NOT watch Mamma Mia, no matter HOW good everyone says it is.

The problem I have with ABBA is that although many of their songs were catchy, melodic and well-written, they were also unbelievably dull and formulaic.
The same goes for quite a few indie bands.

Tepid
Even though I didn't originally hate ABBA with a passion for their blandness, hearing the same three or four songs every week for three years (without any shade of exaggeration) at club nights has had a sort of Ludovico effect on me.

I just mildly dislike them.
But I know a Scandinavian bloke called Bjørn who hates them, which I find amusing.

ABBA wrote a few good songs.
Dancing Queen isn't one of them. Unfortunately it appears to be one of their most popular pieces. Personally, I believe this is cast-iron proof of the equation popular = shit and thus supports my reflexive snobbery concerning popular culture.

(For what it's worth, I reckon The Visitors is their best album, and it's one I will listen to and enjoy. It was also their last. Coincidence?)
