I hate kids, I was assaulted on the last day of term before Easter and am now off sick with a stress related illness.

Apparently being safe at work is not a priority when you work in education. Oh well, at least I wasn't raped like some poor teacher recently!

can do sod all nowadays, they don't want to expel kids cos of the results tables.

This happens a lot in schools now, happened to me when I was a supply teacher and a kid threatened to 'knock me around the classroom'

My cousin was threatened when pregnant by a student so had to be escorted at all times.

It's when I hear stories like this that I think capital punishment should be brought back, albeit heavily monitored.

Sorry to hear that this has happened to you. I hope that action is taken against the scrote, legal or illegal. He's the reason that teachers are leaving the profession.

Not quite true, I was expelled from school 3 years ago. Okay, I'm white and middle class... But yeah.

but I sort of agree to a point. I was expelled for talking back to teachers and refusing to run errands for them. However, kids that assault teachers barely get punished. It seems an odd thing.

It was crap
it failed it's ofsted.

However, the rougher kids, who did throw chairs at teachers, hit them, spit at them, beat up other kids and generally be viscious little scrotes never got punished.

I think that the fact I was a loner didn't help. I did something wrong - I had no-one to protect me. Someone hit a teacher, the whole class said "Dunno miss, didn't see who it was miss".

Bring back the belt

I would definitely bring back the belt, I was given it several times back in the 80's when I was at school. It certainly taught me respect. I would never dream of speaking to an adult the way you hear some little shits these days.

It was the shit school in the area,
there was two along the same road, one prim and propper, great stats, all the nice kids there etc...

Then the one I went to, all the chav scum, asbo to bes etc.

I'd like to think the same problem I had with teachers was the same the other "bad" kids had. But I know that's not true. Some people are just cunts.

I recognise now that I was a twat to some of my teachers, but there were some teachers who commanded respect just because they're your teachers, that's wrong in my opinion. The majority however, appreciated respect but didn't strive for it, they had my respect and I got on greatly with them. There were some teachers I would never even think about disagreeing with even out of the classroom purely because of that.

I think that last bit was probably more me trying to justify my expulsion than anything else :S

I just think that when I was at school, the belt was more of a deterrent than detention. At my school, you had to push some teachers pretty far before they would use the belt. Being kept in for an hour after school was nothing but if you got the belt, you knew all about it.

You could be right. It could be that they showed respect, but felt fear. I dunno, I wasn't alive in those times and didn't know what happened.

Personally though I feel that respect is something to be earned. I won't respect someone just because they're older than me. I respected quite a few of my teachers, but most of them I didn't. There's plenty of adults who I've never respected. That doesn't mean I don't respect any adults at all.

I don't think it's right to respect someone purely because of the ammount of times they've orbited the sun. It doesn't make sense to me.

The phrase "Respect your elders" grates me somet' rotten.
