This is a question Pathological Liars

Friz writes, "I recently busted my mate who claimed to have 'supported the Kaiser Chiefs in 2001' by gently mentioning that they weren't even called that back then."

Some people seem to lead complete fantasy lives with lies stacked on lies stacked on more lies. Tell us about the ones you've met.

BTW, if any of you want to admit to making up all your QOTW stories, now would be a good time to do it.

PIPEX ARE A BUNCH OF LYING TWUNTS
EVERY fucking time you ring Pipex (hope they all die of ALS with no medication( you get the same LIE.
"We have been advised that there is maintenance work being carried out in your area which may cause your phone line/broadband to drop its connection for up to three hours, If you have experienced a problem for over three hours, please ho;d for an advisor" or some such bollocks.
I once rang them from my local exchange (a mate works there, cheers Jamie!) and got the same bullshit. Once I had escalated my complaint to some Johhny no-stars "supervisor" who tried to tell me the same bollocks, I passed the phone to Jamie. He informed them that, as the senior engineer in the area, he was amazed he had had no notification of such a fault and who could they say had told them about it?

I now have a direct line to the customer services at Pipex.

They're still cunts though.

Reminds me of
when i was a customer of 0800 2 Go, back in the days of dial-up.

Seem to remember they blamed loss of connectivity on the September 11th attacks, which is about as low as you can get. (A British company blaming attacks in the US as the reason their network was down?)

I think they went out of business soon after.

(BTW, captain placid - your sig is very funny!)

Could have been due to September 11th...
...I was working for an ISP at the time, and pretty much *all* UK traffic ground to a halt. Considering a lot of UK US traffic goes via New York, and that one of the peering points was somewhere around Ground Zero, along with pretty much everybody trying to find out what was going on, things went pretty slow.

I seem to remember it got so bad at one point that BBC News made their website default to the low graphics version.

doktorrob
Good point. However, this was just one in a string of excuses just prior to the company going out of business.
