...because they are actually doing what their holy book tells them to do.
If you're a Christian, you are supposed to be out stoning disobedient children, persecuting everyone who's eaten a prawn cocktail, and haranguing those who wear poly/cotton blended shirts.
Many other Christians run the words of the holy book through a filter of common sense, empirically-derived ethical values, and general decency to other people, and come up with something workable in the modern world.
Of course, in doing so, they prompt the question: "Why not to just apply these filters on their own, and cut out the holy book entirely?"
But it's nice to see at least one example of unfiltered obedience to holy writ, if only as a cautionary example.
And on the gripping hand, at least they're not flying planes into buildings or persuading depressed people to blow themselves up in crowded marketplaces.

I love how new atheists and religious fundamentalists have the same definition of what being "properly religious" is.
