This is a question Midlife Crisis

I've hit my forties, and my midlife crisis has manifested itself in old band T-shirts and a desire to go on camper van holidays. How has it hit you, or - if you are still a youngling - your elders?

I celebrated turning 40 with a massive party, had 3 bands playing, 80+ people turned up.
It's 6 years later tomorrow. In that time I've lost my house, every relationship has fucked up, I tried having birthday drinks tonight and got no takers.

Life begins at 40 ? does it arse; it fucking ends.

Happy birthday for tomorrow!
I'll have a drink with you, in spirit. (See what I did there?)

Things will get better. Well, sounds like they can't get any worse anyway.

Cheers dude
In lots of ways, it's not *so* bad, but the "fall from grace" after turning 40 was virtually overnight ! Sure, I've made some bad decisions, I still have mates (most of them have now sprogged though), but the contrast between the 30s and 40s is immense...

Wait till you hit your mid-50s.
It all falls into place.

Perhaps if you hadn't pissed loads of money away on 3 fucking bands for one party then the bank wouldn't have taken your house, you finances idiot.

About to
embark on a similar journey too. I turn 40 in July. I used to think it was just a number, now I'll remember the year I turned forty as possibly the worst ever...

Like I said though, can't get any worse!
Can it?

I had a shite time in my 40s which did get steadily worse, what with multiple bereavements and so on, but life has settled down now and I make the best of things. Some people stood by me and some I didn't see for dust. At least I know who my real friends are.

I would know who my real friends are

It's just a glitch.
I got through mine. Stay positive and you will too. If not get someone on Felchbook to send you an inspirational poster.

I've a lovely one with a beach at sunset and some wank platitude about the importance of loving you for who you are.
Fuck knows how that'd help somebody who's screwed up everything.

Must have been a hell of a fucking party.
Wish I'd gone now.

Oh well, cheers for today. I'll clink with you later.

Is this the queue to point and laugh at somebody's misfortune?

(, Sat 4 May 2013, 23:46, closed)
Yes.
I'm pointing quite firmly at you.

It has been that way for me.
The thirties were like finally becoming my adult self and it felt good. At forty four it's just a little less hope with every season.
Hopefully Juan Quar's experience is just as common.
