This is a question How nerdy are you?

This week Gary Gygax, co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons, died. A whole generation of pasty dice-obsessed nerds owes him big time. Me included.

So, in his honour, how nerdy were you? Are you still sunlight-averse? What are the sad little things you do that nobody else understands?

As an example, a B3ta regular who shall remain nameless told us, "I spent an entire school summer holiday getting my BBC Model B computer to produce filthy stories from an extensive database of names, nouns, adjectives, stock phrases and deviant sexual practices. It revolutionised the porn magazine dirty letter writing industry for ever.

Revel in your own nerdiness.

Oh...
I have only just bought my first computer (I'm 26).

I don't like Star Wars, Star Trek, LOTR, red Dwarf or dice and monster games and I even struggle to write the "code" needed to make things add up in excel.

I have a tan and even a few muscles, play sport and enjoy being outside.

Whilst I have absolutely nothing against nerds of any variety, the world would be truly fucked without them, I feel a little left out of this weeks QOTW.

Therefore in a controversil move I am going to defy the powers that be and say, join me non-nerds, show yourselves on the reply button with stories that don't involve BBC computers and Linux, whatever that is.

*awaits nerd backlash via internet viruses*

Maybe not alone
but in the minority...

It's okay, we like you anyway.

I'm hurt...

FHM is read by mouth breathers and bottom feeders and I will have nothing to do with it thank you very much.

Althought there are obviously many, many nerds on this site I'm sure there is space for the non nerduler as well.

*rubs sore arse*

Surely being wedgied over the internet gives me some nerd points?

That's because you're a young whippersnapper who has been brought up on inferior sci-fi. Us old farts remember Star Wars for the first time.

Although, to be honest...I know what you mean. I ended up in IT by accident and I've been turned down parole three times.

I'd rather be out and about than sitting in front of a computer...

I am a strange mixture of both.
I play Sunday league footy and have done for years, I'm married and my partner is expecting our first kid. Naturally I'm in IT but as a manager and I don't really get off on it. However, I used to play wargames, still play boardgames, love sci fi, used to be part of the english civil war society etc.

Maybe I'm just well rounded...

@Smithlick
Yeah - elsewhere I said that missed the wargaming out and went straight for the dressing up in period military gear thing. Why would you want a graphic or image of a sword when you can swing a real one in your hand?
I've taken part in recreation of gladiatorial combat and fought in real Roman arenas in this country and in Italy AND been paid for the privilege.
Beats sitting in front of a monitor in my books!

Like NakedApe
I would not consider myself a nerd. I've nothing against them, I'm just not one of them. The fact that half the posts here ,particularly the IT heavy ones, make absolutly no sense to me only reinforces my view.

Saying that, using an internet forum to say that I'm NOT a nerd is a bit hypocritical...

I don't even know how to use excel

oh the shame.....
