This week Gary Gygax, co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons, died. A whole generation of pasty dice-obsessed nerds owes him big time. Me included.
So, in his honour, how nerdy were you? Are you still sunlight-averse? What are the sad little things you do that nobody else understands?
As an example, a B3ta regular who shall remain nameless told us, "I spent an entire school summer holiday getting my BBC Model B computer to produce filthy stories from an extensive database of names, nouns, adjectives, stock phrases and deviant sexual practices. It revolutionised the porn magazine dirty letter writing industry for ever.
Revel in your own nerdiness.

To all those people posting "Im not a geek, Im well Cool"
Look at what your posting.
Look at where your posting it.
Ask yourself if you are seriously cool why would you be on an internet chat room posting a response about not being a geek?
Shouldn't you be spending your time sharing a Benson and fingering Molly Spencer and comparing prune fingers after??
Shouldn't you be cruising round the suburbs in your 1.2 Nova playing Scooter at dangerous volumes a chucking water bombs at OAPS??
You should at least be be drawing tattoos on your forearm with a blunt compass!
Those who protest the loudest......

that since the opening up of the internet to the masses, it is no longer the preserve of the nerds, geeks and other assorted socially inept types. Therefore posting on an internet forum no longer implies that one does not have a life.
I'm not necessarily using that argument, mind you...

Perhaps I have it all wrong. Perhaps it is cool to be a geek once you have left school. All the cool kids now are in prison/on jeremy kyle/on meth. All the geeks are making money, having a laugh and running the country.
And I never stereotype.
*excuse me*
would you like fries with that sir??

parallel dimension here.
I know plenty of people who fit neither of the stereotypes you've described.

I'm picturing you in a pair of NHS glasses with a plaster in the middle holding them together.... ;-)

What are you talking about? I've seen no posts like that - everyone is trying so hard to demonstrate what a nerd they are.

there actually are a few posts like that because some of us don't understand even a small portion of the posts this week.
You see, we want to be geeks....but sadly, we just aren't up to the task.......so, we find geeks then smile and nod while they talk.
