Old stuff I still know
Our Ginger Fuhrer says that he could still code up a simple game idea in Amstrad Basic, while I'm your man if you ever need to rebuild the suspension on an Austin Allegro (1750 Equipe version). This stuff doesn't leave your mind - tell us about obsolete talents you still have.

i knit. a lot.
not with a knitting machine, but the old-fashioned way, with knitting needles. i tend to make a lot of blankets and bedsocks.
at the moment, i'm about halfway through knitting a double bed-sized blanket, designed to look like a purple gameboy colour with tetris on it. should take another 3 weeks or so to finish, but it'll look great when it's done.
i also mend clothes and can sew buttons back on. fuck that buying a new outfit because one of the seams has a tear in it shit.

A knitting machine?
I didn't know there was such a thing. I almost want one now.

...and the painting of packets is for parrots!
The bloody marmosets have to collect the mandarins though so that's okay.

i think it's unfair
that the pythons had to pick the passion fruits. it's not like they've even got paws.

my mum taught me
she also taught me to knit, bake, cook delicious meals and decorate.

I can bake, cook, sew and clean but
my decorating looks like someone left a room filled with gibbons, some tins of paint and some mangoes laced with ecstasy. Strangely, my mum's decorating and DIY efforts are equally 'unique'.

my mum's great at painting and wallpapering
she taught my dad how to decorate, so she didn't have to do it any more.

Are you on Rav? Knitting is for winners. Not in the least obsolete!

i'm not great with patterns, i'd make a fool of myself! blankets are more my thing, i've got a blanket box stuffed with the things and almost every member of my family has a handmade blanket when winter rolls around :)

I had to teach myself to knit, sew, cook etc because my mother was always too busy cleaning stuff that was already clean - paranoid obsessive that she is.
I've taught my daughter all that stuff though - she makes great cakes, and knits beautifully. Been teaching another friend to knit too, who in turn has said that a teenage friend of hers wants to learn too, so I'll be teaching her soon too.
Its fun sitting in the living room knitting with a couple of friends having a good old cackle about stuff. Some of our conversations get quite smutty :D

pity, really
i don't have much in common with girl friends, what with them being into chick flicks and babies. i prefer horror and i'm as maternal as a housebrick. wouldn't mind a few evenings of knitting and gossip, but they're all too knackered or can't get babysitters :(

Get the kettle on then, I'll be over with the knitting later, for a good stitch and bitch.
