Cuh - there you go being all profligate with the household budget.Are there any Yurt sites near you. You could perhaps combine the amount you were going to spend on each other and have a night in one of those. Although there would be no surprise element.
Or if looking actual gifts then something practical that she needs/wants and something indulgent/luxurious without being really expensive - particularly nice chocolate or body lotion or summat.
