Actually in this case it looks more ageist
The question is whether I do the gig with his band or take up a regular gig with a young black woman.

In fact, it really shouldn't be so difficult
I know this gig will be regular, paid, and considerably less hassle. I just feel a sort of debt of loyalty to this old guy...or maybe it's just because I suspect he won't take it well.

Well, email's been sent. I've offered my limp-wristed bass playing services to the young woman, assuming they haven't found someone else in the meantime. Just looked at the venue's website - for such a badly designed website, the place itself looks quite posh...
