My first weekend of the new year without a bottle of wine.
Can I haz a flat belly now pleeze.

OK I know the weekend isn't over yet but I'm feeling proud.

What have you done recently to give yourself a pat on the back?
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 16:35, 72 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
Well done. *pats condescendingly on the head*
I have managed to make DECISIONS over the last couple of days. This is not an easy thing for me to do, because I know I have to let somebody down, but I finally managed to pull my finger out and decide to join Montstock chez Tayyabs instead of going to a gig, and in the next half-hour or so I shall hopefully be making a decision on our new flatmate. That will just leave one more decision (and probably a rather difficult phonecall) and then I can pat myself on the back.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 16:47, Reply)
are you breaking up with the drummer?

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 16:48, Reply)
Actually I'm eloping with him
I think I'm going to have to break up with an elderly Jamaican feller.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 16:50, Reply)
Get his recipe for hot chicken wings before you do

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 16:50, Reply)
I suspect his may be marinated in Kestrel Super before cooking
Although up until yesterday I had some slight suspicion he'd died, so who knows?
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 16:51, Reply)
racist!

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 16:51, Reply)
Actually in this case it looks more ageist
The question is whether I do the gig with his band or take up a regular gig with a young black woman.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 16:55, Reply)
In fact, it really shouldn't be so difficult
I know this gig will be regular, paid, and considerably less hassle. I just feel a sort of debt of loyalty to this old guy...or maybe it's just because I suspect he won't take it well.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 17:17, Reply)
You have to do what's best for you and your future in the music business.

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 17:21, Reply)
You mean I can't just base the decision on the fact she's quite hot?

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 17:23, Reply)
I know you're not that shallow.

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 17:24, Reply)
You flatter me
Well, email's been sent. I've offered my limp-wristed bass playing services to the young woman, assuming they haven't found someone else in the meantime. Just looked at the venue's website - for such a badly designed website, the place itself looks quite posh...
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 17:31, Reply)
I flatter everyone.
It's going to pay off one day.

Good luck!
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 17:38, Reply)
You dumping someone?
You heartbreaker.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 16:50, Reply)
Would that I had someone to dump, Blousie.
Well, actually if I had somebody I could dump I think I'd prefer not to be dumping them, but you get my point.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 16:51, Reply)
You could dump me if you like.
I'm getting used to it now : )

Went to the casino last night
With £100 to play in the poker cash game. Came back three hours later with £210, which more than erases my other losses at poker this year, and indicates that it might be a source of a bit of pocket money in the future.

Going back tonight.

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 16:50, Reply)
Yeh', mate, might as well re-mortgage the house to play it big in vegas. Guarntied income and all that.

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 17:26, Reply)
It's not guarenteed
But it's not actually very difficult to win money by playing poker. Winning enough to do more than pay for a few drinks occasionally, that's hard. But if you're a decent player and don't play above your abilities or funds, breaking even or winning slightly isn't hard. I've been doing it for the last year or so, just at slightly smaller stakes, as have quite a few of my friends.

The only time you're really going to win big is if you're in a game with half a dozen drunks.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 18:54, Reply)
I have read my second book of the year.
High Fidelity. It is mediocre.

Tonight I stay in and play breakbeat.

I have done nothing noteworthy all year, maybe soon.

I'm off to the panto for my friend's birthday and I haven't got her a present. I am a terrible friend, I always do this

Same here, sick of feeling down
Got a lot of things planned, seeing some lovely people, so there's plenty to feel good about.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 17:08, Reply)
Nothing, really.
Got home to find my shoes had arrived and in one pair I am now 5' 7". Very real risk of breaking my ankle should I go over, which is a high chance. BUT FUCK THAT SHIT THEY'RE BEAUTIFUL.

I saw your status, while sitting glumly outside the library.
If my boots were down here I'd ask for advice on where to go walking near to London, but there's no point walking in any of the shoes I have down here.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 17:40, Reply)
Just go to your nearest park with some monkey nuts hunting for squirrels.

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 17:43, Reply)
I went on a lovely walk through St James', Green and Hyde park
Kind of miss the hill walking I can do at home.

with some monkey nuts and go spear
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 17:49, Reply)
If you take monkey nuts to Regent's Park
the squirrels will find you. I reference you this, the little fucker.

How are you?
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 20:55, Reply)

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:00, Reply)
Decided to give it a go, yeah
Emo sucks :p Up to much tonight?
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:08, Reply)
Nope.
I'm in bed deliberating over what dvd to watch. It's all rock n roll here, I can tell you. I guess by the fact that you are on here that you have something similar planned...
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:10, Reply)
Sofa here
Ironman 2's finished, and I'm about an hour into Shutter Island. What's on your lost of possible films?
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:12, Reply)
Watchmen
the new Tim Minchin, or I might stick Princess Bride on again.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:14, Reply)
Hmm, I'd go for Watchmen if I wanted a serious film
Princess Bride if I wanted a fun classic favourite.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:15, Reply)
The only one I haven't seen
is the new Tim Minchin. I saw Princess Bride for the first time last night and it's awesome, but I did see it last night after all...might have to be Watchmen, but I fancy something a bit more lighthearted.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:21, Reply)
Can't say I've seen Tim Minchin's stuff
When I want light hearted, I go for Dodgeball, Anchorman, 40 Year Old Virgin etc
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:24, Reply)
It's alright
he's better live though. Steve Carrell annoys me, but I do like Dodgeball. Hmm. I might have to go and have another peruse of my dvds...
Been up to much today?
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:30, Reply)
Nah, lazy day
Played some xbox and now im going to watch films until I sleep!
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:32, Reply)
Sounds good to me
do you have one of them Kinect thingers?
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:36, Reply)
Nah
Looks like a lot of money for a gimmick to me.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:42, Reply)
They're a good laugh, I found
of course it's a gimmick, but it's better than a Wii. But I don't know how much they cost, but I assume they're expensive...
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:49, Reply)
I've heard they're pretty cool
But there'd have to be a few decent games for it before I decide to shell out for it.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:52, Reply)
Makes sense
what kind of games do you normally play?
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:55, Reply)
Normally action stuff
Just finished Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, and am playing through Dragon Age on the pc. Do you play games?
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:58, Reply)
Nah, I've never owned a console
I've been tempted to buy a second hand PS2 or something for retro appeal, but I suspect I'd never use it. I used to be quite good at Super Mario and Sreets of Rage 2, but we're going back a good 15 years here...
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 22:01, Reply)
I loved the Streets of Rage games!
The megadrive was an awesome machine!
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 22:02, Reply)
Yeah, I think if I had one of those I might play it
but again, it's not much fun on your own.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 22:06, Reply)
Aww :(
I play games alone all the time, I'm not THAT sad! :p
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 22:09, Reply)
Yeah, but you really enjoy playing games
and I can take them or leave them, so I'd just get bored on my own! Shall we shimmy up to the thread above?
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 22:11, Reply)
Way ahead of you sister!

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 22:11, Reply)
