Can I haz a flat belly now pleeze.
OK I know the weekend isn't over yet but I'm feeling proud.
What have you done recently to give yourself a pat on the back?

I have managed to make DECISIONS over the last couple of days. This is not an easy thing for me to do, because I know I have to let somebody down, but I finally managed to pull my finger out and decide to join Montstock chez Tayyabs instead of going to a gig, and in the next half-hour or so I shall hopefully be making a decision on our new flatmate. That will just leave one more decision (and probably a rather difficult phonecall) and then I can pat myself on the back.

I think I'm going to have to break up with an elderly Jamaican feller.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 16:50, Reply)
Although up until yesterday I had some slight suspicion he'd died, so who knows?

The question is whether I do the gig with his band or take up a regular gig with a young black woman.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 16:55, Reply)
I know this gig will be regular, paid, and considerably less hassle. I just feel a sort of debt of loyalty to this old guy...or maybe it's just because I suspect he won't take it well.

Well, email's been sent. I've offered my limp-wristed bass playing services to the young woman, assuming they haven't found someone else in the meantime. Just looked at the venue's website - for such a badly designed website, the place itself looks quite posh...

Well, actually if I had somebody I could dump I think I'd prefer not to be dumping them, but you get my point.

With £100 to play in the poker cash game. Came back three hours later with £210, which more than erases my other losses at poker this year, and indicates that it might be a source of a bit of pocket money in the future.
Going back tonight.

But it's not actually very difficult to win money by playing poker. Winning enough to do more than pay for a few drinks occasionally, that's hard. But if you're a decent player and don't play above your abilities or funds, breaking even or winning slightly isn't hard. I've been doing it for the last year or so, just at slightly smaller stakes, as have quite a few of my friends.
The only time you're really going to win big is if you're in a game with half a dozen drunks.

High Fidelity. It is mediocre.
Tonight I stay in and play breakbeat.

I have done nothing noteworthy all year, maybe soon.
I'm off to the panto for my friend's birthday and I haven't got her a present. I am a terrible friend, I always do this

It's hard to shake off the negativity but I'm doing my best.

Got a lot of things planned, seeing some lovely people, so there's plenty to feel good about.

Got home to find my shoes had arrived and in one pair I am now 5' 7". Very real risk of breaking my ankle should I go over, which is a high chance. BUT FUCK THAT SHIT THEY'RE BEAUTIFUL.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 17:34, Reply)
If my boots were down here I'd ask for advice on where to go walking near to London, but there's no point walking in any of the shoes I have down here.

I'm in bed deliberating over what dvd to watch. It's all rock n roll here, I can tell you. I guess by the fact that you are on here that you have something similar planned...

Ironman 2's finished, and I'm about an hour into Shutter Island. What's on your lost of possible films?
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:12, Reply)
the new Tim Minchin, or I might stick Princess Bride on again.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:14, Reply)
Princess Bride if I wanted a fun classic favourite.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:15, Reply)
is the new Tim Minchin. I saw Princess Bride for the first time last night and it's awesome, but I did see it last night after all...might have to be Watchmen, but I fancy something a bit more lighthearted.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:21, Reply)
When I want light hearted, I go for Dodgeball, Anchorman, 40 Year Old Virgin etc
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:24, Reply)
he's better live though. Steve Carrell annoys me, but I do like Dodgeball. Hmm. I might have to go and have another peruse of my dvds...
Been up to much today?

of course it's a gimmick, but it's better than a Wii. But I don't know how much they cost, but I assume they're expensive...
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:49, Reply)
But there'd have to be a few decent games for it before I decide to shell out for it.

Just finished Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, and am playing through Dragon Age on the pc. Do you play games?
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:58, Reply)
I've been tempted to buy a second hand PS2 or something for retro appeal, but I suspect I'd never use it. I used to be quite good at Super Mario and Sreets of Rage 2, but we're going back a good 15 years here...
