Glad to hear it.
Your road trip sounds amazing, I just want to get on a train and go to the beach. I might do that in February, if I can find a willing victim to go with me and endure the sight of me in a swimming costume.
(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 11:32, Reply)
have you been in the sea in February?
the water is below 8 degrees at the moment

when I go surfing I am wearing a very expensive 5mm wetsuit, a hood, and the best wetsuit boots and gloves I can get my hands on
(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 11:34, Reply)
Oh shit, I remember someone saying that it's warmer in December
that's the latest I've been in the sea. (In Ireland)

Maybe just "endure the sight of me full stop"

February is pretty much the coldest time for the sea
I'd steer clear if I were you.
(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 11:39, Reply)
But I love grey skies and rainy beaches :(

(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 11:39, Reply)
by all means go to the beach
just don't get in the sea.
(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 11:41, Reply)
I have decided I like my feet too much.

(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 11:43, Reply)
wise
second to last time I went for a surf, even with wetsuit boots on my feet were so cold they hurt, a lot. I was in for 2 hours plus, but even so it forced me to spend £50 on the best new boots I could find on the way home.

We'll be paddling in the source of the Thames on Sunday
then in the sea at the estuary the following Sunday. Poppet's gonna fucking FREEZE.

It's going to be absolutely MEGA mate.
I can't wait! I'm now officially half-way through my working week then it's ten days off work and a few hundred miles around the country. Woo!

"The hump of the week"
Which is how the receptionist greeted me this morning. I thanked her for the compliment.
(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 11:40, Reply)
Well I hope you both have a lot of fun.
What will you be doing in London? I'll pop in and see you if you want.
(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 11:40, Reply)
Faffing mostly, sunset on the Eye, straddling the Greenwich meridian, that kind of shit.
I'll get her to gaz you and sort something out, she's doing all the social stuffs.
(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 11:42, Reply)
I've not straddled the meridian
(OMG LAMPS HAS NOT STRADDLED SOMETHING!)
But yes, I'll gaz her. You should totes do Borough Market, depending on what day you're here.
(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 11:45, Reply)
Thursday and Friday I think.
Do gaz her, it'd be great to see you if we can.
(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 11:48, Reply)
Will do.

(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 11:50, Reply)
the planetarium is pretty good
if you've not done that before
(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 11:46, Reply)
I've not, so we'll check it out, ta.

(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 11:50, Reply)
it's also a good place for a snooze

(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 11:52, Reply)
Isn't it just mostly animated shows now, though?
Rather than an interesting perspective on the wonders of the universe? Last Time I was in it was some shitty 'educational' cartoon aimed at five year olds they were showing, and you had to buy admission to Madame Tussauds to enter.
(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 11:54, Reply)
I went to one at some point in the last couple of years
and it was mostly about spotting constellations and stuff and about where planets can be seen.

Just have to try and pick a good show I think.
(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 12:00, Reply)
Probably best to check the website then.
First time I went as a kid it was brilliant, and they did evening shows which were basically just an hour's worth of a laser display set to music. They did a War of the Worlds one as well.
(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 12:05, Reply)
Ew.
I want big booming science-guy voices and wonderous epic visuals, not Teletubbies Visit the Small Magellanic Cloud.
