It certainly helped change my mind about drugs

I used to be quite laissez-fair about people doing drugs
But now I don't really like people doing them near me at all. My over-riding urge not-to-break-the-law has come back, it seems.

Depends on the drug, really
I wouldn't be comfortable being out in a pub/club with people who were taking drugs, it just seems like a really bad idea. What people do in their own homes is different, I have no objection to being at my friends house whilst he hoovers coke down his nostrils, it's just not something I particularly fancy doing myself.

and being around illegal stuff really puts me on edge.
