He had no mum and he used to fit in my shoe and sleep curled up around my fist or on my head.

Oh, cats on shoulders are awesome.
Our kitten Zola used to do that with my dad while he was cooking. Though she did once stick her head in the grill and burnt her eyebrow whiskers off. Father called her Sylvia for about a month afterwards.
