Have you had some Vienetta this evening?
It is your birthday. And if you don't have Vienetta then, when will you, eh?

No vienetta
but I did have a bloody amazing dinner in the Robin Hood's Retreat. Salt beef brisket and dripping roasties.

Did you have ale? Any good ones on? I've not been in for weeks now!
Happy Birthday !!

Ta!
I was on the wine tonight.
Have you had Bath Ales Ginger Hare? I bought a crate of it because they threatened it would be a one time only ale. Lush.

I could happily live on Bath ales.
Do you ever use the Bath Ales pub in Hotwells? (I'm guessing being the owner of a small person, you don't get much chance).
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 22:21, Reply)
Hare on the Hill and the Welly for me.
What's the Hotwells one? Is it the Eldon House?

The Merchants.

Nice for a few before venturing over to the Pump House and the Nova.

I'll have to try it, haven't been in there yet (in 10 years of living here)

(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 22:26, Reply)
berk never knew about the cider boat when she lived in Bristol.
EDIT: And if you're having a family day out, you could get the ferry from the centre, for no money at all (really) it'll stop at The Cottage, The Nova and The Pumphouse.

It's a nice way to travel.

That sounds awesome
I may take a trip down in the summer.

And of course....
The Merchant is just around the corner from the Rose of Denmark.

Now that is a top top top pub.

word to your mother

(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 22:25, Reply)
I've not been in there for ages.
They did a great pub-quiz years ago.
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 22:18, Reply)
They're uber gastropub now. Really good but somewhat pricey.
The food was awesome, if somewhat poncey.
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 22:20, Reply)
If that food is good, then I've got no problem paying for it.
The problem with pubs that try and set themselves up as gastro pubs is when the landlord still wants Sky Sports News on 24/7, if it is a restaurant with a bar, it works.
