I think you're allowed to give
a certain quantity of alcohol to your own child within the house, and I can't think of anything I've heard about people being prosecuted for buying alcohol for those younger than them. The law comes down like a ton of bricks on supermarkets and pubs caught selling alcohol to the underage though

that's how it used to be here I think but I think the problem is that most kids are forbidden and we have to wait so long
that when we get it we go crazy, at least that's what I did
my cousin died from alcohol poisoning and they prosecuted the guy that bought the booze for the party he was at

From chatting to several American exchange students
apparantly even at university we drink a lot more than American counterparts do, and nearly everyone I know drank well before the legal age of 18

I think the majority of people where I'm from tend to start drinking around prom and graduation
