73 had a lot going for it, as did 78
I'd also like to throw 91 into the mix. A large number of very good albums were released that year, across a lot of genres.

The Low End Theory, Blue Lines, Screamadelica
A good year.

Pearl Jam's Ten
Chilli Peppers' Blood Sugar Sex Magic
Counting Crows' August and Everything After (possibly)
Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger

also, Bryan Adams was at number one for 16 weeks.

What's not to like?

counting crows and Bryan Adams, that's what.

I don't like much of Counting Crows' stuff, but that album brings back good memories
also, the Bryan Adams thing was in jest.

I knew you were jesting.
Was that CC record not 93 or so?

Also, Bandwagonesque by Teenage Fanclub was 91.

I think you are right
that's why I said possibly

I always think of it as having come out in 91

badmotorfinger was the shit one
august and everything after...sigh. Woke up this morning with a counting crows song in my head and a sense of melancholy
