Just looking through some previous threads
and 'Quadrophenia boring'? You really are taking this 'Turdd' thing a bit far, young man.
(, Sun 27 Feb 2011, 15:52, 1 reply, 15 years ago)
It has no relevance for me, so is a bit dull. I can see why you old folks might like it though.

(, Sun 27 Feb 2011, 16:14, Reply)
Yeah, like that 'Mozart' cunt, right?
I wasn't alive when he was, no relevance for me.

Just when I think you've posted the most retarded thing you ever will, you surprise me yet again.

You've no interest in rock music, right? You've never been a part of British youth culture? Or a teenager?

OK then fair enough, you're right: no relevance. You cock-end.
(, Sun 27 Feb 2011, 16:23, Reply)
To be fair, it's a fucking dull film.

(, Sun 27 Feb 2011, 16:27, Reply)
Don't you start.

BONZO!

You can shove your photocopier up your arse.

Doesn't matter. I went to court. With the Ace.

Err, Monty.
I can always get you a job on the bins, I heard you're good at going up and down in back allyways.

I was a 'raver' in the late 80s/early 90s
so the 'living for the weekend' ethos really struck a chord with me. That and the crushing realisation that membership of a 'youth culture' movement that seemed like 'your' way of life for ever was actually not enough...I don't know, I really felt that the film was poignant to me personally, but even just as a snapshot of teenage angst I think it's great. Some of The Who's shittest music though.
(, Sun 27 Feb 2011, 16:35, Reply)
It's a top film.
I enjoyed my share of free parties and 'organised' raves like Dreamscape, HelterSkelter and Universe back in the day.
(, Sun 27 Feb 2011, 16:41, Reply)
I went to the first Universe.
Fucking brilliant it was.

My walls used to be covered in flyers from 'back in the day'
I always liked the fact they felt obliged to advertised the power of the sounds, in amongst the list of DJs playing, they'd thrown in '40k system' or something else, despite the fact wherever you went, it sounded exactly the same.

I recall seeing SL2 doing a live PA at one rave.

I saw them doing 'On a Ragga Tip'
the day they'd finished it, at the Brunel Rooms in Swindon.
(, Sun 27 Feb 2011, 16:47, Reply)
Ahh, the Brunel Rooms.
The place with the revolving bar.

I was 'accidentally' given a micro-dot at the Brunel Rooms. That in itself was no huge issue as I was no stranger to them back then. The problem was, it was me driving.
(, Sun 27 Feb 2011, 16:48, Reply)
That bar nearly made me vomit.

(, Sun 27 Feb 2011, 16:50, Reply)
I was being force fed orange juice in an attempt to bring me down from the Micro Dot.
That never happened.

We ended up walking the streets for a couple of hours before getting the first train back to Bristol, there was no way I want going to play on the M4 in the state I was in, I picked up the car 24 hours later.

I'm trying to think of the name of a regular club night we used to go to in Bristol, it was at the now defunct Pappions nightclub.
(, Sun 27 Feb 2011, 16:52, Reply)
I never went out in Brizzle
but went to several of Easygroove's free parties in the area.
(, Sun 27 Feb 2011, 16:58, Reply)
We travelled all over the south west to gurn like mongs in fields and factories.
I'm surprised you never went to Lakota in Bristol, the club used to be great.
(, Sun 27 Feb 2011, 17:01, Reply)
Those days were so great I could fucking cry.
Poor old 'kids of today', they have nothing like it. We had our own '60s' then. The optimism and enthusiasm in the air...no wonder I'm so fucking pissed off and bored with the present day.

Just looking at
www.fantazia.org.uk/flyerlibrary/raveflyers.htm

I see you can get old flyers transferred to canvas prints, I'll bet they sell by the truck load.

I have the 12".

In more ways than one.

Maybe it was.
This wasn't a period of life when I was at my sharpest!

Weekends were spent with disco biscuits (when they were a proper meal!) and heavily cut pink-champage amphet.

I got into raving when Mitsubishis were at their peak.
I have never had pills as good as those since then.

And although it was the era of Paul Van Dyk, Oakenfold and Gatecrasher, I steered well clear of trance. I actually detest it even more when off my tits. Music for plebs, nonces and idiots.
(, Sun 27 Feb 2011, 17:21, Reply)
You missed the good days then, sorry.

(, Sun 27 Feb 2011, 17:22, Reply)
I am only 31.
When you were raving I was a kid.

I used to go to Ibiza in the early 90 with friends for holidays
This is back before it went mental over there, the prices were cheap, the music great and there were hardly any 'superclubs' it was very much a case of good DJs in nice bars.

And, of course, watching the sun come over over Cafe Del Mar with a joint.

Last time I went to Ibiza, it was full of wankers in Ted Baker shirts and proper shoes.
(, Sun 27 Feb 2011, 17:30, Reply)
It's all gone bent Jeff.
