get a sketchbook
and doodle. Don't show it to anyone if you don't want, don't worry if it's shit. I suck at drawing and my house is full of sketchbooks of crap

I can't imagine not having it
When I was in oxford I found myself crocheting long chains unconsciously while wandering round trying to find a coffee shop. I doodled on my hand with a burnt down match at a dinner party the other day, too
