Though I'll be able to pay that off before the 0% runs out, at which point I transfer it over to a new 0% card and keep throwing money at it until it dies.

Instead I actually buy things with cash. Apart from my eyes. I am saving for those. Stupid eyes.
When I finally pay my debt off though I'll be £200 a month richer and I will go on holiday somewhere fabulous and send you a postcard

Though am managing mine somewhat. I want to get the flights now, and on the card insurance, hence my choice to use the CC.

It can be very hard to find cheap accommodation. I stayed at inns and hostels and it was still quite expensive so shop about online before you leave. Have fun, its the only country I have ever been to where I didn't want to go home and started saving to go again as soon as I got back. I'm taking the kids there one day for definite. Where abouts are you going? I prefer Kyoto to Tokyo as you get a mix of the city life but a few miles up the road can be in old monasteries with no electricy and loads of beautiful buildings and the like.

We're going to be staying hostels almost exclusively, look to be about £20-30 a night which is fine. Probably going to spend a week in Tokyo, then move on to Kyoto, maybe Nara too (not sure of the geography though).
