I'm going to go out on a limb now and not talk about pancakes.
Where is everyone going for holiday this year?

*runs fingers through your hair and frowns*

Tonight I'm booking tickets to Japan
Found some for £630 return, no lengthy flights or long stopovers, so will go for them.
Then I'll have to save up for accommodation, food and happyfuntiemz.
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:03, Reply)
man I need a better paid job
I don't think I can afford a holiday until 2014
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:04, Reply)
All hail the credit card
Though I'll be able to pay that off before the 0% runs out, at which point I transfer it over to a new 0% card and keep throwing money at it until it dies.
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:05, Reply)
Yeah rememeber you're talking to 7k credit card girl. I don't touch those things any more
Instead I actually buy things with cash. Apart from my eyes. I am saving for those. Stupid eyes.
When I finally pay my debt off though I'll be £200 a month richer and I will go on holiday somewhere fabulous and send you a postcard
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:08, Reply)
I'm about the same in debt
Though am managing mine somewhat. I want to get the flights now, and on the card insurance, hence my choice to use the CC.
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:09, Reply)
Has your mate finally got round to confirming his attendance?

(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:10, Reply)
Yes, thankfully
Hence booking tonight :)

I have been a couple of times
It can be very hard to find cheap accommodation. I stayed at inns and hostels and it was still quite expensive so shop about online before you leave. Have fun, its the only country I have ever been to where I didn't want to go home and started saving to go again as soon as I got back. I'm taking the kids there one day for definite. Where abouts are you going? I prefer Kyoto to Tokyo as you get a mix of the city life but a few miles up the road can be in old monasteries with no electricy and loads of beautiful buildings and the like.
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:26, Reply)
Thanks for the tips
We're going to be staying hostels almost exclusively, look to be about £20-30 a night which is fine. Probably going to spend a week in Tokyo, then move on to Kyoto, maybe Nara too (not sure of the geography though).

(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:06, Reply)
Tenerife....again, with my nephew.
Just found out the factory is shutting for a week in September so I might fuck off somewhere then.

Next year.....MOTHERFUCKING SRI LANKHA.

Ok, I really am jealous now.
When are you off to Tenerife?
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:16, Reply)
Mid may, back 2 days before the Tod bash.
I'll be nice and tanned. *preens*

Dubrovnik for a few days, hopefully the islands, then up to Split and Plitvice.
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:15, Reply)
Sounds lovely
How good's your Croatian?
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:17, Reply)
...non existent?
I always get a phrasebook before I go abroad anywhere though.
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:20, Reply)
As you'd expect, they all speak excellent English out there
Just from my own experience, they do seem to really appreciate it if you can fumble out one or two phrases in Croatian, though.
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:25, Reply)
Yeah, same as anywhere really
I'll almost certainly forget everything except 'please', 'thankyou' and 'Can I have a beer' though.
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:33, Reply)
Except France
they fucking hate us whatever we do.
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:38, Reply)
I dunno
When we hitchhiked through France the people were immensely kind and helpful. One of them even fed us. Apparently they don't have vegetarians over there though
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:40, Reply)
With you speaking in your yokel Norfolk,
they probably didn't realise you were English.
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:41, Reply)
This would be an excellent point
if I was from Norfolk
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:46, Reply)
Details, details

(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:49, Reply)
They don't have vegetarians in Spain either
we saw a lovely little spectacle of two American veggies being fed a (free!) tapa that had ham in it. There was much horrified squealing.
The barman's reaction was great: he just shrugged and told them to eat round it.
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:42, Reply)
Ha!
Gotta laugh at veggies now before I get home, innit
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:49, Reply)
Argentina, if Ms Foxtrot gets her way. She wants to go around the time of her 30th, which makes it very hard for me to argue. Not that I have any particular wish to
Also, and this is BRILLIANT, in December there's a major Ballroom competition in DisneyLand Paris. FUCK YEAH

Also; Manchester (wedding), Latitude festival (somewhere in Suffolk), Todmorden (hopefully), Bradford (MDs and Bella-sex, don't tell her though)
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:13, Reply)
Woo!

(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:49, Reply)
goodness, she doesn't even look close to that

(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:54, Reply)
I know, she's a babyface
Thank you for saying so, she'll be well pleased with that!
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 16:01, Reply)
oh so you pass on the compliments
but not when we go on about how stupid she is to be a veggie, and how odd she must be to be with you.

Double standards!
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 16:33, Reply)
not booked anywhere yet
but hopefully and in no particular order:

new york - long weekend
caribbean - 2 week break
madeira - 1 week break
family christmas holiday - tbc
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:17, Reply)
I wouldn't bother going to Madeira.
It's fucking bent there.

(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:26, Reply)
i love madeira for an old biddy's holiday
i have membership of this scheme that means i get so many points to spend on free holidays every year (my dad bought them for us all when he sold our house in spain) and the madeira apartments are gorgeous and right up on the clifftop, the views are incredible. it's really sunny, amazing food, great swimming/catamarans/watersports and lovely walks. what's not to like?

the people are pretty ugly, admittedly.
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:30, Reply)
I found the place beyond dull.

They also cheat at football

Therefore we should nuke them

(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 16:16, Reply)
There is fuck all to do there.
I spent two weeks there, a week of it with a car so I've explored it quite throughly.

And my conclusion, is that the place is bent.
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:31, Reply)
the same can be said of your trouser department
and yet you keep going back...
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:54, Reply)

(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 16:06, Reply)
Dunno about holidays
but I'm going to have a poke around Sutton Hoo this weekend, if that helps?

My life is a non-stop riot of excitement.
(, Tue 8 Mar 2011, 15:19, Reply)
Nowhere
I don't have enough money so unless my family go on holiday, I'm not. I suspect they might go for a couple of weeks in the summer though, probably to Malta or Italy.

Alt: not surprised you're frowning. My hair needs a cut

Have a week in St Ives in April
followed by a slightly more luxurious week in St Ives for my honeymoon in September.

I can't afford to go anywhere. By this time next year though I should have a van which I will have equipped with a bed and will be driving places, which will be ace.

mr b3th and I don't really get holidays
on account of having a severely spoilt dog with major separation anxiety issues. He had to come with us last year on our honeymoon.

Actually, so did mr b3th's two children, their spouses, and his two grandchildren.

This year I have a very long weekend at the olds' in April, a week and a bit visit from some Amercan friends in September, and a shopping trip in Liverpool in December.

but facially, dark hair and blue eyes do it for me. She's pretty enough.
