My mum's parents were the total opposite. Never happy with us and never a positve word to say. Loads of Chrismas presents though which I could have lived without.

but it does give me an anxious feeling some times when I realised both my parents were orphans by the age of 18. I've already had four extra years by that reckoning :(

died when my mum was two, car accident. Maternal grandmother when my mum was 19 (not 18 oops) of cancer. Paternal grandfather died when my dad was 11, not sure what of, and paternal grandmother died of cancer when he was 17 I think (she worked as a radiation nurse before shielding properly kicked in.)
