Of course it's a stupid lyric
It's by System of a fucking Down. The most overrated metal band of all time
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:37, 2 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
Megadeth.

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:39, Reply)
I don't think anyone ever rated Megadeth above the level of "second-rate Metallica"
which is exactly what they were
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:41, Reply)
error
Megadeth have hordes of fans. They have done some good stuff, different to Metallica.

I prefer Metallica in general, but Megadeth had some great moments. They also produced a lot of shit.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:44, Reply)
I was a huge Megadeth fan in my teens
but as soon as I drifted away from classic metal (ie when Metallica disappeared and resurfaced with the execrable Load album) I stopped listening to them too. Your assesment in the bottom line of this post chimes exactly with how I feel about them.

They were my first ever gig, mind. Lost my glasses.

glasses brown wings to an acne-faced teenage boy with patches sewn all over his sleeveless denim jacket.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:56, Reply)
Go on then, have an 8/10
You're certainly trying hard enough
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 10:00, Reply)
you have some really stupid opinions
SOAD are at least a bit different. They write interesting songs, and they are superb live.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:41, Reply)
Noah and the Whale are "a bit different"
It doesn't make them good. SOAD seem to believe that an excess of infuriating zaniness can make up for a lack of decent tunes.

I will have to concede that the only time I've seen them live was back in '98 supporting Slayer and Sepultura, they were certainly not yet in their stride and the whole crowd badly wanted them to fuck off and make way for the headliners.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:43, Reply)
I like SOAD
more than I like Slayer
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:44, Reply)
I think Slayer are impressive although not my 'thing' at all.

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:50, Reply)
Really?
I find them incredibly boring
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:51, Reply)
Conversely, they say you are 'a right barrel of laughs'.

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:55, Reply)
just the barrel bit actually

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:56, Reply)
They are very dull live

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:56, Reply)
I thought they were excellent last year
and that was next to some first class performances from Bigelf and Karnivool. and Europe.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:57, Reply)
Slayer?!
Are you sure it was Slayer you saw?
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:59, Reply)
Absolutely
Yes, the music is good. But there is zero crowd interaction, and that gets dull very quickly.

Still sounds great hearing Tom Araya roaring "Raining blooooooood!" though
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 10:01, Reply)
The crowd were too busy trying to kill each other when I saw them

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 10:02, Reply)
some bands can get away without crowd interaction
and I believe Slayer to be one of them.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 10:03, Reply)
You can be 'different' and be 'different from good'.

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:44, Reply)
My bro made me go and see Noah and the Whale a couple of years back
It wasn't bad. Then I heard the album. Fucking dreary shite. Would never have even considered going if I'd heard them before I saw them.

Let me put this to you: Why on earth do people go crazy for The Strokes? They are bland and uninventive and far from original.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:46, Reply)
Oh god, I have no argument with that at all
I heard all the hype about the Strokes before hearing the band and was vaguely intrigued. Fuck me, that was an anticlimax. Stunningly dreary crap.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:50, Reply)
The opposite of the 'vinegar strokes' then?

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:53, Reply)
I quite like The Strokes
But I'd never try to defend their music.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:52, Reply)
Very wise.

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:53, Reply)
I disagree.
I saw them 'live' on the television and concluded they were fucking terrible in around 3 seconds. Some of the most embarrassing lyrics I have ever heard - and I've heard 'The Lebanon' by The Human League.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:44, Reply)
It may have helped that the support band were the worst band I have ever heard

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:45, Reply)
Who were they?
And worst band you'd ever heard or ever seen live? If the former, I'm going to have to play the Oasis card again.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:50, Reply)
Pendulum.
Must have been.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:54, Reply)
they win the award for "band that has most quickly put me off listening to them with their appalling live act"

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:56, Reply)
and a minor medal
for 'band that drives people to Fightstar's loving embrace'
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:58, Reply)
Fightstar are an odd band
They started with two pretty damn good tracks, then just completely went to shit. It was embarrassing.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 10:00, Reply)
that is impressive

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 10:00, Reply)
ten minutes of Pendulum
and I fucked off to Fightstar who were quite good
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 10:02, Reply)
Dillinger Escape Plan
they were so bad it hurt. I led the booing.

The best part of the gig was when the guitarist fell over, then dropped his guitar when he stood up.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:55, Reply)
Hahaha
Worst band I've ever seen live were the White Stripes. They were perfectly organised, just unbelievably dull.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:56, Reply)
see, I saw them in 2001 or 2002 and they remain one of the most intense and exciting gigs I have seen

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:57, Reply)
Maybe they just weren't up for it when I saw them
Which is fucking inexcusable as they were headlining Glastonbury
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:59, Reply)
that's a shame
they really were excellent
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 10:00, Reply)
Maybe all the cunts with juggling balls and waki hats
put him off.

Fair enough I say.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 10:02, Reply)
I like the cut of that fellow's jib.
He stands for proper music on decent vintage kit and turns his nose up at polished production. I throughly approve.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 10:01, Reply)
he is also an outrageously good guitarist
the point where he'd put his guitar down on the stage and was playing it like a man possessed in a lap steel way was amazing.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 10:03, Reply)
He is.

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 10:09, Reply)
They are fucking dire
The singer has attempted to start an online argument with Jared Leto. It just reeks of jealousy.
