there are ways to drink booze that are less calorific though
and eating as well.

having lost a lot of weight myself I find talk of the stupid ways that people try and go about it fairly annoying

I switched from cider to slimline G&T. I love both, but the difference in calories is astounding.

The trouble with that is that she's schmoozing clients a lot of the time.
If you're plying people with wine, you have to keep up otherwise they're going to feel awkward with accepting the hospitality. They are naturally aware that they're being schmoozed and they're going to be a bit off-guard when the host is stone cold sober and, presumably, looking at them over steepled fingers with a calculating glare.
