I've often wondered why transport providerschoose to go on strike, rather than offer their service for free for the day. OK, so it wouldn't impact on those with Oyster cards or season tickets, but the transport company would still lose a shit load of money, and the union would probably get a lot more sympathy from the public.

They don't own the stations they can't set ticketing pricing or rules, the only power a union really has is to withold their labour.

Ah, I see.I'm sure there's somewhere in Europe that does it, which is why I questioned the practise.
