what are the general thoughts on Tracy Chapman?

She's alright
but in the "female vocalist with a guitar" category, I prefer Beth Orton.

Oh, that's quite a good call.
Although Chapman has a pretty haunting voice. Even if she does look and sound a bit like a man.

I thought she was a man for ages from hearing Fast Car and Between the Lines.
Then I saw her picture and it didn't do anything to change my mind. Ihad to be presented with quite a lot of evidence before I admitted my mistake.

I really like Beth Orton
though when I saw her at Wireless and she only played stuff off her fourth album I was a bit gutted as it's definitely the worst of the 4.
