I can't forgive them for their attitude in a magazine interview before I'd ever heard them.
Couldn't help but think "no matter how good you are, it won't much your egos you bunch of fucking tossers"

I try never to find out about bands I like. I'd be upset if one of my musical heroes made Bono look humble.

But I quite agree, they're not as good as either they or Radio 1 think they are. I remember reading an interview with them just after Oasis had split, proclaiming themselves Britain's biggest band as a result of the joyous occasion. Conveniently ignoring Muse, who were comfortably more popular than either of them at that point in time.

A friend of yours provided synths on their as-yet-unreleased new EP and you all got together for MDs one ker-ay-zee night in Hoxton?

and was in there for 12 hours on the (freely-provided) MDs, which they gave him in exchange for in turn trying to cop off with his girlfriend. A more charming bunch of utterly deluded northern spastics you would be hard-pushed to find.

is your ability to conjure stories that, coming from anyone else, would summarily be dismissed as "bollocks", without anyone doubting that they might be true.

I don't think they're cool, I don't think this is impressive...it's just 'industry' shit. I've found myself in some situations which some people might be amazed at but really once you move in those kind of circles (and I no longer do) it's normal. They're just blokes with jobs.

The encounters I've been blown away by, most people wouldn't care a toss about.

Men want to be him - women want to be with him. Pink Floyd want him to join them.
And he's FUCKING GOOD AT SWIMMING.

What use has he for groupies when he's dating a supermodel? Same reason why he didn't join Maiden. Their USP of "our singer is a pilot" has no appeal to him.

Assuming models are like artisan cheeses, that's good, right?

I'd never really thought of it in those terms, as you can imagine there's surprisingly little of it out my way. My prolonged stint as DJ at the city's leading rock night makes me a minor celebrity on the "scene" here. That should hopefully give you an idea of scale.

and the scene of some of my early gigs with Electric Head Funk, is now quite a rated venue - they have some fairly big names playing there.

There's probably a small shrine outside, a pile of unworn jeggings and scornful put-downs surrounding a plaque saying "Monty Boyce's Mum lives just over there!"

pharmaceutical is pure white. MDMA when pure should be yellowish or pinkish and translucent: if you have a white powder it's been heavily cut.

Smackheads often prefer the brown apparently. I learned this from a book about DeeDee Ramone.
