srsly though
Leeds bash anyone?
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:19, Reply)
Yeah.
City had it away with them in the Old Peacock years ago.

Oh, hang on. You mean a geeky collective thing....

Indeedy
Though we could go to the scummy pub by the train station where all the LUFC firm drink
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:22, Reply)
i would love a Leeds bash.

(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:40, Reply)
Ok
There has been talk of finding a pub quiz in central Leeds. But if we cant there are some god-dammned good drinking establishments in the city.
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:46, Reply)
Yup, there's a few people around your way too.

(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:25, Reply)
Hmm. Worth doing?

(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:27, Reply)
I'd say so.
Maybe a bit later in the year, between summer and Christmas, as there's a few over the summer that are already heaving.
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:30, Reply)
I may just have a local get together down the pub then.

(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:37, Reply)
Around West Yorkshire
There's me, Woodside, Bella and BGB. Plumdozer lives in York and has often suggested finding a pub quiz in central Leeds.
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:43, Reply)
I shall keep a lookout for one tomorrow.

(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:44, Reply)
Actually
Lets just go to the pub in leeds as a pre-bash planning session for the actual bash.
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:57, Reply)
BGB's Todmorden extravaganza isn't too far away
I'll be doing the last train home and I'm sure that ends up in Leeds.
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:28, Reply)
This also actually.
Come to this, it was wonderful last year. Alright TD? Bringing your walking boots?
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:30, Reply)
Being one of the unemployed now, it depends
It'd be nice to have a stride out, but if I can get any casual driving jobs over the weekend they'd have to take first priority.
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:34, Reply)
Noooooooooooo.
Shame. How're the freelance plans working out?
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:35, Reply)
Pretty good, thanks
Sheridan Landlord Services (my new venture) launches with fanfares and marching bands on June 1st, but I've got driving work Saturday, Monday and Thursday.

If I can get to grips with the technology I can make a go of it, I reckon.
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:39, Reply)
Good luck with that.

(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:44, Reply)
What technology are you looking at?
I'm reasonably handy, as are a few people around here. If I can't help, I might be able to point you in the right direction. Gaz if you want a hand.
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:45, Reply)
Very basic stuff
Embarrassingly so. Things like putting spreadsheets together and adding photos to documents.

It might sound a bit pretentious but I've always had people to do this sort of thing for me, so my understanding of basic office suites is limited.

I'm teaching myself slowly via some "Retards Guide to Computers" type books - thanks for the offer but that's the way I learn.
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:52, Reply)
I have been using OpenOffice for some time
Its close to MS office in terms of capabilities, but attractively priced at free.
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:58, Reply)
The man has good advice, but I can point you in the right direction for MS software if you're used to it.
I can knock out spreadsheets and web stuff, some image manipulation etc. Honestly, just gaz me your requirements and I might be able to help, or point you in the direction of people who may.
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 20:04, Reply)
Thanks once again
But I like to teach myself stuff. I have acute technophobia and need to overcome it.

And the stuff we're talking is very basic.

I think I said on here a few months ago that when I was at school (I was born in 1968) a "Computer Studies" CSE was introduced, and the teachers solemnly forbade us bright kids from signing up to it on the grounds that "it was a passing fad."
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 20:15, Reply)
Sounds good. I was in Tod the other day.
I got told off by my northern g/f for pronouncing it Tod-more-den instead of Todm'den, like the southern fairy I am
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:31, Reply)
THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU KNOCK ON MY DOOR?

(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:38, Reply)
I was passing through on the train
did you not see me wave?
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 19:40, Reply)
It's the one with the bust of Jeff Bridges outside.
