We should definitely not talk about my impending unemployment
I haven't heard back from the interview I went to yesterday and consequently am in a vile mood with an undercurrent of pant-shittingly doom laden terror. Fun times.

Good luck
I usually find people only really get round to telling you one way or the other on a Thursday Friday, and usually late in the day.

Thanks
but they specifically said they would make a decision yesterday afternoon or this morning and let us all know by lunchtime today. My guess is that I am second in the pile and they're waiting to hear back from the person they've offered it to before they give me the inevitable 'no'. It's fucking shit.

They're accademics/scientists right?
They're not so good with the deadlines.

either that, or there are HR people involved who are all useless cunts

HR here is abysmal, it's true
but it's the scientist themselves that makes the decision and lets you know; getting the job offer is usually hassle-free, it's all the paperwork and faffing that comes afterwards that's a ballache.

We've done exactly the opposite of what you wanted.

mwahahahahahaha

they won't have made a decision yet
they will still be arguing about whose account the coffee and biscuits should be charged to.

I was interviewing for a research technician post
us lowly types are not offered coffee and biscuits at interview.

Maybe you should have a contingency plan in place then
and see what retail work is available in your local area. Also employers LOVE the fact people would rather work anywhere than be a lazy bum

My contract doesn't expire until 30th September
so I have a little while yet, but I am already registered with a couple of temping agencies. I simply can't afford to be unemployed for anything more than perhaps a few days and having no control over it is fucking terrifying.
(, Wed 8 Jun 2011, 15:17, Reply)
temp agencies are great as long as you phone them CONSTANTLY
