I love films from any decade but I can understand someone not being into old films
They'll have been tailored for a different target audience. A good story is a good story no matter what but sometimes the manner in which it is presented could be an obstacle to our enjoyment of it. blah blah blah mise-en-scene blah bordwell blah an article in cahiers du cinema blah

Diff'rent strokes for different folks, innit?

I think there can be a bit of 'kids with a new toy' excitement with CGI and 3D at the expense of plot and characters but I think they can both be valuable aids to filmmaking. The fanfare around 3D is dying down a bit now, I tend to baulk at the extra cost especially as there have been a lot of substandard post conversions put out.
