Four line, four verse form mostly.
A bit of personal stuff, some humour, one about chavs, that kind of thing. Mostly written during a nasty depressive phase in my final year of uni. I love being creative, but the crushing mental lows that went with it, not so much.

fair enough
I tend to find being carefree (and stoned) helps my creative juices flow. That's certainly when I play the best guitar solos

consider the bands some of my stoner mates listened to
I suspect that isn't universally true...

ok, it enhances my appreciation
what sort of things do they listen to?
(, Tue 14 Jun 2011, 13:58, Reply)

I have not

It was the state of mind that went with it, I think.
Hiding in my room all the time got rid of all distractions, allowing me to relax better.
(, Tue 14 Jun 2011, 13:56, Reply)
makes sense.
have we established for sure that you are a new person now, rather than a sock puppet?

I'm convinced.

God knows.
Someone with a lot of weird letters in their name keeps on calling me Jim.

Could He make a pair of lips so tight, that He couldn't open His mouth?

(, Tue 14 Jun 2011, 14:07, Reply)
given the circumstances
we could say he could do whatever he wanted.

You're my kind of fella
Too bad that you're just fiction

I had a crush on Alan Arkin at the time.

Thanks! I was quite proud of it at the time.

To be honest, I think some of mine is interminable drivel
But people seem to like it for some reason.
(, Tue 14 Jun 2011, 14:09, Reply)
Maybe it speaks to them.

(, Tue 14 Jun 2011, 14:12, Reply)
Perhaps.
Still, I feel happier now I have it all in one place to send off to publishers. Of course, now I need to find a publisher.
(, Tue 14 Jun 2011, 14:13, Reply)
Worth using the Writer's Handbook
get the most up-to-date copy you can i.e. the 2011 one. They have a list of publishers who accept unsolicited poetry manuscripts, and also a list of poetry prizes.
(, Tue 14 Jun 2011, 14:30, Reply)
Ooh, I'll have a look for that, thanks!

(, Tue 14 Jun 2011, 14:36, Reply)
It's possible to buy it in Waterstones for about a tenner
my mother uses it, says it's very useful
(, Tue 14 Jun 2011, 14:41, Reply)
That'll be my first investment come payday then.
Many thanks.
