It's much more complicated than the colour, or the type of grape used. it's not as complicated as wine snobs want you to think, though.

Yeah', I totally agree, but it's just wine, sometimes different beers are in order, sometimes cocktail/juices/soft-drinks etc.
It's so limiting, but it shows up in every dish.

Wines taste radically different depending on what you're eating
It's weird - Syrah tastes like sauerkraut when drunk on its own but of berries when drunk with a casserole, for example.
