It was, but you know how the spellings get corrupted when European types move to English-speaking countriesWell, not in your case, obviously, but I know someone whose grandfather changed her surname to make it sound less Polish when he moved to the US

ahah I was gonna say!yeah nah a lot of german names got phased out here during WW2, and I don't think I can name anybody who has a german name who is from an old family here.
