The looting was nothing to do with people being poor
and everything to do with people wanting to get things for free and smash things up. Like any normal red blooded male I love smashing things up, I recently got to smash up my wife's old wardrobe and it was great fun. This was just the same on a larger scale. I'm willing to bet there were plenty of people out there who came from family's better off than mine.
