Does a mod just give people a bollocking for unfair or unpleasant behaviour? Is that the gist?
If so, I wouldn't be great at it. Too sensitive and too much of a soft touch. There'd be masses of threads starting "that poof DF let so-and-so off with a smacked wrist for saying he was going to dig up this bloke's Mum and violate her with a jackhammer" and the like.

I got told off by a mod once
and I responded with a well rounded argument as to why he should not be telling me off for a bit of spankyhanky baiting. He apologized to me and said he had over reacted. This has been added to my list of INTERNET VICTORIES!

So did I.
I mean, little old me? Who'd have thought it?

I've never even spoken to a mod, knowingly
I'm just nowhere near abrasive enough
