though the best solution would be to have strong men and women, but try and avoid gender stereotyping, so you don't always have a sweet female doctor masquerading as being of actual use.

characters not necessarily as strong or weak, but as rounded. I'm crap at a lot of things, I need to see faults in characters before I can identify.
I think making female characters without flaws (which is something which does keep cropping up, along with the fact they have to be skinny and pretty) makes them more alien and actual demonstrates an idealised male gaze...blah blah blah..boring myself now
