What is it about old people and racism?

tolerance was only brought to britain at the same time as decimalisation.
anyone born before that date tends to be a massive racist.

Ironically,
tolerance arrived on these shores on The Empire Windrush

Well, in her case
I suspect the fact that she has lived in the same town all her life, she's 96 and seen it go from being entirely white to now, I think, about 80% Asian. Plus, the major immigrant influx coincided with the failing of the mills, so that gave the local white population something else to blame for their jobs disappearing.

I'm not sure how well-equipped our generataion is to comment on "old people racism" as we've grown up in a more-or-less multicultural society and have had access to so much more information about the rest of the world.

Makes sense. I also suspect that a lot of the elderly read the Daily Mail which must be a contributory factor.
