I donno, my Dad spent a fortune on a home automation thing, there is a computer in the hallway that is connecting all the lights in the living room.But they only used it to switch the thing 'on' and 'off', and he died before anyone got the chance to learn it, and it flickered all the time.... so a couple of years ago mum got it changed for a normal dimmer lightswitch that works normal, and now we have a £5k computer system in the hallway that does fuck all. I think you can connect other things to it like curtans and the aircon.
