The VPN is down
as they changed all the ip addresses on our system on wednesday.

So I can't really do a lot of work.

But come 5pm I'm off to Edinburgh.

What are you doing up here, al?

I want to see if spending time north of the border makes me right about everything
unable to take a joke, and quite insufferable.

I joke of course, I'm up there on a stag do.

don't joke, now you know I can't take it.
Good times. Anything interesting planned? any places I should avoid tonight or tomorrow night for risk of seeing a drunken Al hanging out the back of some hen do scrubber?

I have no idea where we are going
but we are staying just north of Haymarket station.

We are doing "mini highland games" tommorrow.

If you end up on Grassmarket or Cowgate
try not to leave reeking of skank. It'll be a challenge.

I'm quite good at avoiding skanks
my hideous appearance and gargantuan physical girth usually sees to that.

not if you end up in The Three Sisters it won't

If you like French food try this restaurant in Edinburgh www.lescargotbleu.co.uk/

It's excellent - I took my best man & ushers and their partners there for dinner the night before my wedding. Food was fresh, tasty & good value.

It's fucking lovely
but unless he has a time machine to go back to 3 weeks ago he's not going to be able to get a table there.

Also, it's very close to my flat so I'm not sure I want him there.

Been there a couple of times - my wife is friends with their wine merchant so he has helped us to get a table at short notice before.

The last time we were there the Bakehouse just up the road caught fire.

that was only a few months ago, wasn't it?
It is a lovely restaurant.

June 17th to be precise.
We got married at St Giles cathedral on the 18th. Reception was at Dalmeny House in South Queensferry (friends of wife's family).
(, Fri 23 Sep 2011, 10:10, Reply)
I live about 2 minutes from there

(, Fri 23 Sep 2011, 10:56, Reply)
St Giles or Dalmeny?
My wife's family live on Heriot Row. I drink in the St Vincent around the corner to escape the family when up there.
(, Fri 23 Sep 2011, 11:00, Reply)
Near Dalmeny
