haha, fuck.
I was discussing it with a colleague on the way in this morning. Granted, neither of us specialise in theoretical physics, but the best we could come up with is "maybe the currently quoted speed of light is actually very slightly wrong?"

Even the bloke who did the work is adamant it must be wrong, he just can't work out how.

I just wish that people were forced to have a basic understanding of science
before being allowed to report on it.

I've sat in several meetings with BBC and C4 programming people
(I used to do this epsrc NOISEmaker thing) and explained this. They payed very little attention. Unsurprisingly.

I was slightly confused as to that part of the curriculum I must admit
Especially since it was only my Physics teacher, Mr "Loves the jism" Chisholm, who enforced it. My female Biology teacher had no truck with such practical methods of explanation.
