Things were shit ten years ago when I did mine, no doubt they're abysmal at present.
Have bags, will travel? Rent the house out and get a contract elsewhere. At least you ain't tied down by a wife or kids.

I'm too old now and my A Levels are only BCE.
I have a 2.1 and lots of compliancy experience, maybe I'll just have to do GDL part time or something.

Nah I did the lpc part time, and there were loads of punters in their 30's and 40's just starting out, you've got plenty of time.
Being tied to a relatively small geographic area could set you back for years unless you're willing to move to another part of the country.
