If you plug an American appliance into a British socket and turn it on, you'll burn out the appliance.
If you plug a British appliance into an American socket, you'll burn down the house.

You can't plug British appliances in to American sockets
they've got too many pointy bits.

you can snap one off
or just unscrew the plug and remove a prong
