Having two universities
I do occasionally get to see one on University Challenge. Mostly Bristol, though, as Strathclyde doesn't ever seem to bother its arse.

I thought you went to Glasgow?
We have three universities. One is totally an HE college. One is a former Poly but I'll give it its due...

How very dare you!!
No, I went to uni IN Glasgow. Strathclyde - although once a technical institute - is a proper university too. Our poly turned university is Glasgow Caledonian.

What I loved about Strathclyde is that it isn't a campus university - it's right in the middle of the city. See also, University of Bristol.

Ah I see.
Ours and JMU are city centre. Liverpool Hope 'University' is way out, with a few recently-acquired buildings near town.

I think universities must be like football teams
as most cities seem to have two - one that's proper 'establishment' and one that's the young upstart taht's more trendy.

And London has lots.

I only looked at two English universities
and one was Royal Holloway. I thought it was a really beautiful building. Perhaps not the best reason to choose your uni...

JMU ain't trendy and Hope is full of nuns.
We have three. But then again we have two cathedrals. *hyacinth*

Well, Glasgow has three, but I wasn't counting Cally.
Bristol technically has three as well, but I don't count the old polytechnic one.

Is Hope the one Edge Hill used to be?
or is that yet another one?
(, Thu 20 Oct 2011, 23:05, Reply)
Nah, Edge Hill's not in Liverpool.
