Sweet Gene Vincent....
There's one in every town, doncha know?

Oh christ, I remember the day I bought that album.
15 seconds into side 2 I turned round from singing/posturing at the window to see my mum standing at my open bedroom door.
Staring at me.
It all changed that day.
Forever.

Aight plumberman.
I admit- the Gene Vincent tune was on Weatherall's Sci Fi Lo Fi mix.

A superb mix album. Look it up.

Check out New Boots and Panties, if you don't know it already. It's pretty fucking awesome.

Context alert whoop-whoop
It was late 1980, so I was 11.
New Boots and Panties had been out 4(?) years.
Got it with birthday money from my gran.
Bought it in Pink Panther Records in Carlisle, a truly fine ollddee woorrllddyy record shop.
I'd listened to the album twice straight through so knew that side 2 (oh yeah, still got almost all my vinyl btw) kicked off with an unaccompanied Ian Dury assualting the mic with a proper barrage of obscenity, specifically:
"ARSOLES, BARSTERDS, FACKING CANTS AND PRICKS"
Still in my top 5 after nearly 20 years ;)
And mum never told the old goat.
