I agree that Zappa was not really funny
But some of his music is fantastic. Admittedly his catalogue is so vast that there is a huge amount of crap there too, but the good stuff is really good.

I watched one of his stand-up shows recently for the first time in years
Two things; one, whilst undoubtedly an intelligent, right-thinking man, he wasn't really all that funny. And second, this PoV may be entirely reversible depending on how much weed you smoke.
