all i said was that i was impressed by his qualifications,
after he took the time to put me right and explain to me his qualifications (not that he was doing so to impress me or anything, that was just, i thought at least, a happy side effect of him going to pains to explain his qualifications to me)

He does have impressive qualifications. Makes you think his insecurities are more complex. Maybe he was touched as a child.
